Quran Through the Seerah
Discover how the Holy Quran descended upon the lived reality of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — connecting specific historical milestones, battles, treaties, and hardships with divine revelation.
Translation:
“Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you]. And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life]. And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.”
During the early Makkan period, divine revelation paused for a brief duration (Fatrat al-Wahy). The pagans mocked, claiming his Lord had forsaken him.
Authentically recorded by Imam al-Bukhari and Muslim on the authority of Jundub ibn Abdillah that Jibril's pause caused emotional distress until Allah revealed Surah Ad-Duha with tender divine reassurance.
Translation:
“Did We not expand for you, [O Muhammad], your breast? And We removed from you your burden which had weighed upon your back, and raised high for you your repute.”
Comforting the Prophet ﷺ amidst Makkan hardships and promising that with every hardship comes ease.
Revealed to reassure the Messenger ﷺ that the immense burden of Prophethood is accompanied by divine expansion of the chest, forgiveness, and elevated remembrance worldwide.
Translation:
“[Remember] when you asked help of your Lord, and He answered you, 'Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another.'”
The eve of the Battle of Badr when the Prophet ﷺ spent the night in prayer asking for divine assistance.
Recorded in Sahih Muslim from Umar ibn al-Khattab describing the Prophet's desperate supplication in the tent until his cloak fell, followed by this immediate divine response.
Translation:
“Indeed, We have given you a clear conquest / victory, that Allah may forgive you what preceded of your sin and what will follow and complete His favor upon you and guide you to a straight path.”
Revealed on the road back to Madinah following the conclusion of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah in 6 AH.
Umar asked: 'Is this a victory, O Messenger of Allah?' He replied: 'Yes, by the One in Whose Hand is my soul, it is indeed a victory!'
