The Early Muslims (Al-Sabiqoon Al-Awwaloon)
السَّابِقُونَ الأَوَّلُون
Historical & Scholarly Account
The dawn of Islam was embraced by those who knew the Prophet ﷺ most intimately. The first believer was Sayyidah Khadijah (the first woman and first person). The first child was Ali ibn Abi Talib (age 10), living in the Prophet's household. The first freed slave was Zayd ibn Harithah. The first free adult man was Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, who immediately used his influence, wealth, and prestige to invite fellow noble men including Uthman ibn Affan, Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, Al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam, and Talhah ibn Ubaydillah. They gathered secretly in the House of Al-Arqam (Dar al-Arqam) on Mount Safa to study the Quran.
