رِعَايَةُ عَبْدِ المُطَّلِبِ وَأَبِي طَالِب
“The loss of his mother Sayyidah Aminah, care under Abd al-Muttalib and Abu Talib, and learning self-reliance through shepherding.”
Historical & Scholarly Account
At the age of six, his mother Aminah passed away at Al-Abwa on their return journey from visiting his father's grave in Yathrib. His grandfather Abd al-Muttalib took charge of him with deep tenderness until his passing two years later. His uncle Abu Talib then assumed his guardianship, loving him dearly. In his youth, Muhammad ﷺ grazed sheep for the people of Makkah. He later remarked: 'There was no Prophet sent by Allah except that he grazed sheep.' He was protected by Allah from ever participating in the pagan festivities or shameful habits of youth.
