“The universal recognition of his flawless character, participation in Hilf al-Fudul (The League of Virtuous), and trade reputation.”
Historical & Scholarly Account
As a young man, Muhammad ﷺ became universally known across Quraysh by the honorific title **Al-Sadiq Al-Amin** (The Truthful and Trustworthy). He joined **Hilf al-Fudul** (The League of the Virtuous) — a noble pact among Makkan clans to defend the rights of any oppressed person entering Makkah, regardless of tribe. The Prophet ﷺ later praised this alliance in Islam, stating: 'I witnessed in the house of Ibn Jud'an an agreement so noble that if I were invited to it in Islam, I would respond.' His exceptional honesty in trade drew the admiration of Sayyidah Khadijah bint Khuwaylid.
