Arrival in Madinah & Foundation of Quba
الوُصُولُ إِلَى المَدِينَةِ وَتَأْسِيسُ مَسْجِدِ قُبَاء
Historical & Scholarly Account
On 12 Rabi al-Awwal, the Prophet ﷺ arrived at the oasis of Quba on the outskirts of Yathrib. He spent several days there, establishing **Masjid Quba** — the first mosque built on piety in Islam. When he rode his camel Al-Qaswa' into the city center, the people of Yathrib, women, and children celebrated with unmatched joy, chanting: 'Tala'a al-Badru 'alayna min Thaniyyat al-Wada'...' (The Full Moon has risen upon us from the valley of Wada'!). Every chieftain begged the Prophet ﷺ to stay at his home. He replied: 'Let the camel go, for she is divinely commanded.' She knelt at the site of his future mosque, and Abu Ayyub al-Ansari had the honor of hosting the Prophet ﷺ.
