The Farewell Sermon (Khutbat al-Wada')
خُطْبَةُ الوَدَاعِ وَمِيثَاقُ حُقُوقِ الإِنْسَان
Historical & Scholarly Account
Standing on Mount Arafat, Rasulullah ﷺ delivered the immortal **Farewell Sermon**, the definitive Magna Carta of universal human dignity: 1. **Sanctity of Life & Wealth**: 'Your blood, your property, and your honor are sacred to one another until you meet your Lord, just as this day, this month, and this city are sacred.' 2. **Abolition of Racism**: 'O people! Verily your Lord is One and your father is one. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor a non-Arab over an Arab; a white person has no superiority over a black person, nor a black person over a white person — except by piety (Taqwa).' 3. **Rights of Women**: 'Fear Allah concerning women! You have taken them as a trust from Allah... Treat your women with kindness.' 4. **Economic Justice**: 'All usury (riba) of Jahiliyyah is abolished.' 5. **The Eternal Legacy**: 'I leave behind that which if you hold fast to, you will never go astray: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah.' He concluded: 'Have I delivered the message?' The 124,000 voices roared: 'Yes! We bear witness you have conveyed the message, fulfilled the trust, and advised the Ummah!' He raised his finger to the sky: 'O Allah, bear witness! O Allah, bear witness! O Allah, bear witness!'
