Arabia Before the Birth
شِبْهُ الجَزِيرَةِ قَبْلَ المَبْعَث
Historical & Scholarly Account
Prior to the dawn of Prophethood, the Arabian Peninsula was engulfed in the spiritual darkness known as Jahiliyyah (the Age of Ignorance). Tribal rivalry, idolatry, moral degradation, oppression of the vulnerable, and the buried alive infant daughters plagued society. Yet, within this landscape, the Ka'bah remained a revered sanctuary established by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and Ismail (Ishmael) عليهم السلام. A small remnant of seekers, known as the Hanifs, rejected idolatry and maintained the pure monotheistic legacy of Ibrahim, yearning for the promised Messenger who would restore light to mankind.
“Our Lord, and send among them a messenger from themselves who will recite to them Your verses and teach them the Book and wisdom...”
Surah Al-Baqarah (2:129) — The historic supplication of Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail upon building the foundations of the Ka'bah.
