Blessed Countenance & Radiant Face

صِفَةُ وَجْهِهِ الشَّرِيفِ وَنُورِهِ

The radiant beauty of his face, described as brighter than the full moon, combining awe and approachable warmth.

Classical Shama'il Narration

Ali ibn Abi Talib رضي الله عنه described the Prophet ﷺ: 'He was neither tall nor short, but of medium stature. His hair was neither completely curly nor straight, but slightly wavy. His face was neither fleshy nor completely round, but had a slight roundness. His complexion was fair with a radiant reddish hue. His eyes were wide and deeply black with long eyelashes. When he walked, he stepped firmly as if descending an incline. Between his shoulders was the Seal of Prophethood. Whoever saw him unexpectedly was struck with awe, and whoever associated with him with understanding loved him dearly.' Jabir ibn Samurah was asked: 'Was his face like a sword (shining and sharp)?' He replied: 'No, it was radiant like the sun and the full moon.'

Primary Hadith Citation (Al-Shama'il al-Muhammadiyyah (Hadith 1, 7))

كَانَ وَجْهُهُ مِثْلَ الشَّمْسِ وَالقَمَرِ وَكَانَ مُسْتَدِيرًا

His face was radiant like the sun and the moon, luminous and rounded with grace.
